UUFES MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
of the Eastern Slopes is to be a welcoming congregation of people of
goodwill who unite:
To encourage and support spiritual and
intellectual growth in children, youth and adults,
To be a living model of respect for diversity
and differences, encouraging the free expression of thoughts, ideas
and beliefs,
To provide a caring community in which
individuals and families come together in friendship, respect and
joy,
To act on our Unitarian Universalist principles to improve our
community, locally and globally, through social action and outreach.

Governing Board
Mission: Working to support the larger goals
and purposes of Unitarian-Universalism, the Governing Board makes
decisions, sets priorities, develops policy, plans for the future and
develops programs to assure the work of the Fellowship.
The Governing Board facilitates communication and cooperation among the
leadership, committees and Fellowship members. (7/2004)

Capital Campaign Committee
(A subcommittee of Finance)
Mission: To conduct a feasibility study
regarding the financial capacity of the congregation to fund an
expansion of our physical plant and/or other growth needs, to evaluate
and select for congregational approval the most appropriate funding
options, and if feasible and approved, plan and execute a capital

Green Sanctuary
Mission: to build awareness of sustainability,
environmental, and ecojustice issues within the congregation and the
community; to encourage the Fellowship to utilize "green" practices and
products in its building and grounds; to generate commitment to personal
lifestyle changes that reduce adverse impacts on the earth; to develop
ecospirituality in worship and religious education; and to lead the
congregation in the process of gaining accreditation as a Green

Hospitality
Mission: To promote an atmosphere of
fellowship and community within the congregation. The hospitality
committee provides coffee, tea and refreshments to facilitate the social

Leadership Development (NomCom)
Mission: The mission of the Nominating
Committee is to assess and develop the leadership resources within the
Fellowship. Procedurally, it is to identify persons whose abilities and
characteristics suggest their potential to serve competently in
Governing Board or committee positions. Further, to consult with persons
thus identified and seek their agreement to serve. (11/2004)

Long Range Planning
Mission: Shall develop and facilitate a
process to guide the congregation's future with respect to, but not
limited to, growth, ministry, facilities and life-span education. It
shall be informed by the membership and report its recommendations to

Membership
Mission: To welcome and involve visitors, new,
and established members in the life of the church. The committee needs
to be aware of the needs of newcomers, notice the members who are not
participating in the life of our community, recognize the events in the
life of members of the Fellowship, and plan for our continued membership

Mission:
1. To raise the Fellowship¹s awareness of societal issues, events, and
concerns that challenge our core UU principles, especially justice,
equality, and compassion in human relations and world community of
peace, liberty and justice for all;
2. To involve the Fellowship in selected issues and actions as
individuals, as a Fellowship, as a member of UUA and the NH/VT UU
District, and as a partner in our immediate and larger communities.

Sunday Service
Mission: To work with the minister or guest
speaker in developing programs for Sunday morning worship services that
support the mission and covenant of the congregation. Our services are
guided by the Unitarian Universalist belief in the inherent worth and
dignity of every person and by the desire to explore, without creedal
boundaries, the mysteries of our lives. Working together and upholding
the mission of our Fellowship, the Sunday Service Committee seeks to
achieve and maintain services of high quality and appropriate content.
