2007-2008 Religious Exploration Program
The upcoming Religious
Exploration year will find our children's
program focusing on two main areas: The Great
Story and Our Seven Principles. Our calendar is
arranged having the same activities fall on the
same Sundays each month.
First Sundays - This
is an all inclusive group of ages 4-12 the
children will be taking part in a SpiritPlay
classroom. Our topic on First Sundays will be
The Great Story. Our fellowship will be
receiving a visit from Connie Barlow and Michael
Dowd on September 16 and 17 2007. We will
continue to build on that visit throughout the
coming year.
Second Sundays - This
is an all inclusive group of ages 4-12.
The children will be taking part in a SpiritPlay
classroom. Our topic on Second Sundays will be
the seven Unitarian Universalist Principles.
Third Sundays - The
Great Story: Our children will be split into two
groups on third Sundays. The first group will
be approximately grades K-3 and the second group
will be grades 4 and up. We will be continuing
the exploration of The Great Story.
Fourth Sundays - Again
the children will be divided into two groups.
Younger children will have a SpiritPlay
Work/Feast Day. They will not hear a new story,
but will work with stories already told.
Older children (aged 8 and
up) will have the opportunity to participate in
K.I.S.S. (Kids in Sunday Service). This program
is to familiarize children with the process of
more actively participating in the church
service. K.I.S.S. kids will spend approximately
30 minutes with the choir director, learning a
song to sing during the service. They will the
help to prepare the Sanctuary for the service;
placing hymnals, filling candles, acting as
greeters, etc. K.I.S.S. kids have a
special designation on their name tag and are
also expected to stay in the Sanctuary for the
entire service. Please see the Director if you
would like your child to participate in the
K.I.S.S. program.
Fifth Sundays - Fifth
Sunday is an Intergenerational Service at our
Fellowship. Our Religious Exploration program
will go Intergenerational this year as well.
Members of our Fellowship volunteer to prepare
the St. Andrews Dinner Bell meal on Fifth
Sundays and our families are encouraged to
participate. There will be a sign up sheet for
salad ingredients. During the Religious
Exploration hour, families are encouraged to
work together and prepare a salad for our
volunteers to bring to the Dinner Bell that
evening. Parents and their children are
expected to participate in this experience
together.
